Introduction

Welcome to the TVCSF Disability Hub Website. This site aims to provide an interactive and information source for service providing groups and organisations who support people, carers and families affected by disability within Thanet and East Kent.

The Disability Hub

After consultation with our members, TVCSF launched our first specialist hub in May 2010. The Disability Hub is for service providing organisations and groups who's work focuses on supporting people, families and carers affected by disability.

Conference Events

We hold three Disability Hub Conferences per year which run alongside our half day conferences and Fund Raising Network meetings (our second specialist hub launched in June 2011).

The Disability Hub is facilitated by TVCSF and supported by a planning group made up of people working specifically in the field of disability. The group meets regularly to work on formulating an event which meets the needs of the delegates.

The conferences contain informative presentations by keynote speakers and interactive workshop sessions where delegates can discuss issues related to relevant topics. The prime focus of these events is to provide a networking opportunity and to promote the sharing of information between delegates who share a common interest.

Our Next Event

The majority of our members work closely with their service users. At present there is major concern regarding the Welfare Reform and how this will affect disabled people.

On October 28 we will be facilitating a large full day event, at St George's C of E Foundation School, focusing on assisting disabled people returning to work or training towards gaining skills for employment. The event will also focus on disability awareness for prospective employers and will include case studies and work shops. Apart from service providers, we will be inviting service users and local businesses. There will be presentations from the recently commissioned pre-employment agencies (G4S and Avanta), JCP – outlining the 'Get Britain Working programme and KCC – explaining the Supporting Independence Programme. The second half of the event will focus on disability awareness for prospective employers. We will be seeking case studies from both employers of people affected by disability and employees.

Laura Sandys MP will be supporting and opening this event.

If you like more information about this event or to come along, please contact us, details are on this page.
